YR 1 & 2 – Miss Hill – Stanage
Dear parents and carers of Key Stage 1 children,
Here is some information you may find useful:
PE days are Monday and Thursday. Please ensure your child has both an indoor and outdoor kit which is named. Long hair should be tied back and earrings removed on these days. Earrings can’t be taped up. Indoor kit is a white t-shirt and dark shorts. Outdoor kit is a tracksuit or similar and trainers. We will be going outside for one lesson each week.
Each week we will be sending home a pot of five Common Exception Words (tricky words) for your child to practise reading and spelling at home. Children will have the opportunity to change these weekly once they have been learnt.
Please help your child by listening to them read at least four times a week and marking this in their reading diary. The class teacher or teaching assistant will check the diaries weekly.
Out topic for the Autumn Term in ‘Wild Weather’, please encourage your child to find out all about different weather events in this country and around the world.
Please bring in an old shirt for your child to wear over their uniform during art and design activities.
Please provide your child with a school book bag rather than a rucksack type bag, as this can easily be stored in their draws and keeps the classroom clutter free.
Please ensure that your child has a water bottle in school every day.
To help your child develop independence and confidence, please support us in encouraging your child to adopt the following routines:
- Say goodbye in the playground and come into school by themselves
- Hand in letters, trip money, dinner money, etc. by themselves
- Bring their book bag into school each day
- Keep their common exception word pots in their book bag and bring in each day.
Thank you for your continued support, we are all looking forward to working with your children in the year ahead.
