YR 2 – Miss Pratt – Mam Tor
General information about Miss Pratt’s Proud Penguins
Teaching staff: Miss Pratt (class teacher), Mrs Hunt (class TA), Mr Shaw (teaches PE on Thursdays) and Mrs Wigley (French).
PE days are Tuesday and Thursday.
Our topics this term are Around our school and How do we show we care for others?
Please ensure that your child has a water bottle each day.
Your child needs to bring their book bag to school every day. The school book bag rather than a rucksack is preferable.
Reading – all children are expected to enjoy a reading experience four times a week at home. Please see your child’s reading diary for ideas for activities.
Spellings – we will learn and practise Common Exception words regularly every week. These have been sent home to parents so that you can help you child at home.
Maths – your child may be given a maths activity to complete at homeIf you have any queries or wish to discuss anything, no matter how small, please do not hesitate to come and talk to me. The end of the day is usually better as there is more time.
Times tables – children will need to practise their times table target for a timed task each week. Y2 children should be able to quickly recall the 2, 5 and 10 times tables and will learn the 3 times table during the year.
PE: Please ensure your child has both an indoor kit (dark shorts and white t-shirt) and outdoor kit (trainers or pumps, jumper or hoodie, tracksuit or jogging bottoms) which is named. Long hair should be tied back and earrings removed on these days. Spare socks can be useful! Key Stage 1 children do indoor PE in bare feet. Please let us know if your child has a verruca as this will need to be covered.
Thank you for your support.
